Sound Mapping

Sound mapping is used to plot digital representations of sound in a specific location. They are created by associating landmarks (streets, building, etc.) with noise sources (roads, railways, HVAC units, etc.) in that geographical location. A 3D model can then be generated to show a visual representation of the noise in those specific locations.

Sound maps are then used to predict the sound levels at any location to provide an understanding on the sound will travel and depict what the predicted noise level will be at a particular location.

Creating and using sound maps helps residential and commercial developers ensure they will meet city and county noise regulations.  This provides critical information during planning to help facilitate the appropriate design and implementation the appropriate construction assemblies to meet building code requirements. These studies are often required by the local municipality prior to the construction of a new commercial or residential development.
