Sonex® Willtec® Flat Foam is a flat acoustic foam that provides sound absorption and acoustic insulation for a wide range of applications. Sonex® Willtec® Flat Foam is manufactured from an open-cell, fiber-free melamine foam which is fire resistant, flexible and easy to cut and install.
This acoustic foam meets all ASTM E84 requirements for flame spread and smoke density, and it passes the aggressive new UL 1715 room fire exposure test. It can even be exposed to constant temperatures up to 300°F, and short-term temperatures up to 482°F. Willtec® does not ignite at temperatures below 1120°F.
The fiber-free structure of Willtec® core gives it an extremely low density, making it lightweight and flexible. The open-cells of the Willtec core is used as the base material for the Sonex® product line due to its ability to dampen sound and be cut, molded, trimmed or laminated.
Sonex® Willtec® Flat Acoustical foams are available in various thickness and sizes. Standard foam sheet sizes are 2′ x 2′ and 2′ x 4′ and 1/2″ to 2″ thick and can ship via a typical ground service. Larger 4′ x 4′ and 4′ x 8′ sizes ship on a skid via freight trucking service. Available in standard colors of Natural White or Natural Grey, you can also customize this foam with HPC coated colors, a beveled edge, or with the addition of a peel and stick backing. Use this acoustical foam in a variety of applications and apply it using construction adhesive.
Sonex® Willtec® Flat Foam is an excellent choice for use as a ceiling or wall treatments in offices, call centers, lobbies, entertainment facilities, conference and board rooms, retail stores, lodging and healthcare facilities, recording studios, houses of worship, home theaters, restaurants, event spaces and other applications. It may also be used to line HVAC duct work or other enclosures and works great as an option to add absorption to the interior of a metal roof deck.
All Sonex® foam products are made with open-cell foam. This porous cell structure allows the foam to absorb sound waves. Unless there is a surface coating or covering, it will also absorb water, dust, dirt, oil and other liquids. Normally, very little needs to be done with the products once installed. However, here are some basic instructions for maintaining your Sonex® acoustic products:
-Always wear white cotton gloves when handling the products. -Proper supply-and-return air filtration and regular HVAC filter maintenance minimize soiling. -Do not pressure-wash or soak with water or other liquid. -Surface dust and dirt can be delicately vacuumed or dusted with air. -If wall panels and baffles are HPC-coated, lightly wipe clean with damp cloth. Do not soak with water or liquid.

AlphaFlat and Sonex Willtec Flat foams are made from a similar melamine acoustical core with equivalent acoustical properties. AlphaFlat is available in a range of thicknesses from 1\\\” to 4\\\” with a standard sheet size of 2\\\’x4\\\’, where as the Sonex Willtec is available in thicknesses of 1/2\\\” to 2\\\” with standard sheet sizes of 2\\\’x2\\\’, 2\\\’x4\\\’, 4\\\’x4\\\’, and 4\\\’x8\\\’. The AlphaFlat foam has a similar color selection, but the grey color is slightly darker than than that of the Sonex Willtec and the AlphaFlat offers a charcoal color. If a cleanable, durable surface is required, Sonex Willtec may be custom coated with HPC coatings.
