The Issue

A large domestic automobile-manufacturing facility needed a sound-blocking and sound-absorbing wall to mitigate sound inside its manufacturing and testing areas.

The Challenge

The customer has a high-value area that needed to be hidden from view from the rest of the facility for confidentiality. Additionally, the noise at that site was very high due to dolly trains delivering materials to the site. They needed a solution that would enclose the area from view as well as block and absorb sound traveling to and from the site.

Soundproofing blankets on the walls treat the acoustics in a manufacturing facility.

The Solution

The customer considered simply using a tarp or fabric curtain to block off the area, but due to the high sound levels, they knew they needed a solution that would solve both sound and security issues simultaneously. Two large wall sections, each 10′ high, were constructed using PrivacyShield® Dual-Sided Absorptive Soundproofing Blankets with a heavy-duty double-track support frame.

The Result

The sound was effectively reduced in the area where the blanket panel wall was installed. Access doors were included so getting into the area is quick and easy. Employees can work without excessive noise that can be dangerous with long-term exposure.
