The Issue

Heritage Christian Center had a large, modern facility that accommodated their growing congregation. But they knew that they had an acoustic echo/reverberation problem. Many of the congregation had trouble understanding sermons, regardless of where they sat in the space.

About the Client

Heritage Christian Center in Hueytown, Alabama, is a non-denominational church that aims to provide a welcoming and loving environment where people from all backgrounds can come together to worship and grow spiritually. The church offers various services and programs, they also have a strong online presence with livestreams, podcasts, and sermon videos available for those who cannot attend in person.

The Challenge

The building is a modern metal structure. While cost-effective, it has uneven surfaces that complicate wall mounting and tends to reverberate more than traditional constructions. Additionally, the large open area poses challenges for achieving consistent speech clarity throughout the space.

The Solution

Pastor Mark reached out to Acoustical Solutions. We gathered dimensions, images, and had a brief conversation about the acoustic treatment goals. With that information, we developed a plan that met their budget, acoustic needs, and aesthetic preferences. We ultimately chose ceiling banners and AlphaSorb Fabric Wrapped Panels for the walls.

The Result

After the treatment, the space transformed into a serene environment suitable for all the church’s events and services. The improvement in speech intelligibility was a blessing for the congregation, who had previously struggled to understand even nearby conversations. In short, the echo and reverberation issues were completely resolved.
