The Moorer family installed acoustic window seal kits to keep outdoor noise from coming into their home.

The Issue

The Moorer Residence found a solution to reduce the unpleasant noise that was entering through the windows of their condominium. Located in Smyrna, Ga., the living quarters are in a corner unit on the second floor of the building. This exposed them to several sources of exterior noise. Unable to change the circumstances outside their home, the customers sought other solutions to make their living environment more comfortable.

The Challenge

The problem for this client was two-fold. One side of the bedroom and adjoining bathroom faced a busy sixlane roadway. The noise from heavy traffic, trucks, and other large vehicles would often disturb them. Traffic persist throughout the day and into the night, often keeping them awake. The set of windows on the adjacent wall faced the community pool and grill area. Social events are regularly held in this common space. Games, like bocce ball, take place just a few feet away from their windows. On one hand having close access to the community space is convenient, but it does not always provide a sense of peace and privacy.

The Solution

After speaking with the customer, our Acoustic Specialist knew the best treatment for this problem. Sealing the windows with our PrivacyShield® Window Seal Kit would provide an additional layer to the window to reduce the noise. The first set of these kits were installed by our team onto the windows facing the busy road. Highly-satisfied with the improvement, they immediately ordered more kits to treat the additional windows facing the pool and grill area. They found the PrivacyShield® Window Seal Kit to be the perfect solution in providing an acoustic sound seal to their existing windows. They achieved up to an 80% sound reduction. Additionally, the window seals also offer the added bonus of providing thermal insulation, saving money on heating and cooling. Since the seal is mounts magnetically to the window, the PrivacyShield® window insert easily removes in seconds. This allows for access to the primary window for cleaning or maintenance.
