The Issue

Ward Furniture & Flooring contacted Acoustical Solutions for help with replacing acoustical panels in Sam Houston State University’s music building. The university was looking for a visually-appealing option to replace aging panels in existing framed areas.

The Challenge

The biggest challenge with this project was that the existing panels were encased by a wood trim on the wall, which was not being removed. This meant the solution we provided would have to be customizable to fit the existing openings. The solution also needed to be effective in order to manage band and music practice in the space with tile floors and drywall walls.

The Solution

After considering multiple options, we decided to offer a solution that would match as close as possible to the existing panels the university had. The decision was made to use our Alphasorb® Fabric Wrapped Acoustic Panels, as these were fully customizable to any size up to 4’x10′. This allowed us to fit panels exactly inside the existing trim pieces on the walls with no field cuts required.

The Result

Upon installation, the noise level is managed to a comfortable level for these musicians to rehearse and the space got a facelift with brand new panels on the walls. The customer is satisfied with the results and can enjoy the space’s new look for years to come.
