Little Rock Christian Academy

The Issue

The client has a large open café where many students gather to eat and converse. Events are held in the room as well. The combination of all hard surfaces and the overall size of the space makes speech and music comprehension difficult.

About the Client

Founded in 1977, Little Rock Christian Academy is committed to serving families, churches, and the community by providing an exemplary K3 through 12th grade college-preparatory education.

The Challenge

Little Rock Christian Academy wanted a solution that would be effective and easy to install using the existing ceiling structure. To make installation go quicker and easier, they preferred to not have to drill holes into the metal roof deck. Additionally, the customer wanted the treatment to look visually interesting while providing the sound absorption they desperately needed.

The Solution

We manufactured custom sized clouds to fit between the ceiling I-Beam support joists. These panels are supported on the edges by the I-Beams and in the center with Rotofast Cloud Anchors, cables, and magnetic attachment to the roof deck for support in the center of the panels. This allowed the treatment to be placed in a space that did not interfere with lighting or other fixtures, utilizing the unused space just below the roof deck.

The Result

The client was able to install the ceiling panels themselves over the course of a few days. The panels were placed in a visually appealing staggered pattern and no drilling into the ceiling was required. The echo in the space was reduced to the appropriate 1.5 second reverb time. This resulted in a much better sounding room where conversations are noticably clearer and easier to understand.

In the Customer’s Own Words

“We have received nothing but favorable response from the acoustic ceiling panels in our cafeteria. They did everything we hoped they would do with the sound in the cafeteria. One unexpected enhancement was how much better the café looks with the panels as well.”
