FAQ
Top Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
Acoustics
There are many ways to soundproof a room, and contrary to what some blogs and forums say, stapling old egg cartons to your walls isn’t one of them – though it might give your walls a cool recycled look! To prevent sound from traveling from one room to another, you need to work with products that block noise from traveling through the drywall or wall studs. Some products you might want to look into are AudioSeal® Sound Barrier, Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound, and Resilient Sound Isolation Clips.
Noisy pipes and air vents can be a problem for all sorts of buildings. Regardless of whether you’re in an office or at home, noisy pipes can be a huge distraction and can prevent you from easily completing common tasks like talking on the phone. Acoustical Solutions supplies many products that can help, such as pipe and duct wrap and lag, as well as supply air returns that help reduce the amount of sound that travels from one room to the next.
Congratulations on your decision to set up a home recording studio! There are many products out there claiming to be a total solution for setting up a studio in your home and there are many ‘do-it-yourselfers’ who will claim they know the best way. Our advice is to read as much as you can about studio acoustics and talk with people who work in the industry.
To kick-off your reading, use our studio education resources and once you’re ready to talk to someone about your project needs, we would be happy to offer our advice.

When fabric is trimmed to size and shipped, it is wrapped around a tube rather than folded, to avoid permanently creasing the fabric. The package is roughly 70 inches long, triggering an oversize surcharge with UPS of up to $20.50. This is in addition to other surcharges like residential delivery, fuel surcharges, etc., which can make shipping a yard of fabric cost over $50! It is more economical to order several yards at once as the difference in shipping cost between one yard and ten yards is small.
Don’t be frightened by budget constraints. Remember that if you’re using the right products and installing them correctly, a little can go a long way.
