Product Description

AudioSeal® Sound Barrier is a mass loaded vinyl (mlv) sound barrier used to reduce the amount of airborne sound from transmitting through walls, floors and ceilings. It can be added to various construction assemblies to increase STC (Sound Transmission Loss) of the structure. It is a limp-mass material made of high-temperature fused vinyl and no lead fillers. Audioseal® Sound Barrier is very dense, weighing one to two pounds per square foot. AudioSeal® is commonly used in new construction and also to correct noise problems in existing spaces.

Audioseal® Sound Barrier is a non-reinforced version for wall and ceiling installations. AudioSeal® is tear resistant, yet easy to cut with a utility knife. Its available in 48″ or 54″ widths and various lengths to provide the best utilization for your project.

Usually installed direct to the studs, vinyl sound barrier may also be installed between layers of drywall. Often, the mass loaded barrier is used in combination with other materials to create a soundproof system. Combining it with layers of sheet rock with Green Glue and resilient clips and channels will improve the sound transmission loss of the complete assembly. Reading about Soundproofing a Wall and Soundproofing a Garage may provide you with further insight on the uses of mass loaded vinyl in certain construction assemblies.

Brian Davis

All I can say is, it is heavy. I'm an amateur, first time working with this. Building a personal drum / recording studio. Learning as I go. The product is what it says. Hoping it works as I intended.

Angela Stanley

Product was delivered timely and as described. We installed on wooden fence to flatten dog barking. I have not heard from my neighbors so hopefully it has helped.

Anthony Repass

great product for soundproofing

Philip H

High material. Arrived in excellent condition.

Great product that works! Easy to install. A 8ft high x 12 ft wide wall took only two men and less than a day to hang and cover with drywall. Now the noise of a 4 lane highway only 30 ft from the house is minimized to the point of not even noticing any vehicular sounds.

excellent … liked the size option

Great stuff!!!

S.S Karawi

this stuff is heavy. takes a little man handling to get it in place. We used it on the ceiling in the theater to help deaden the sound transmission to the HVAC ducts and bedrooms above.
this is part of system, so still in the building phase of the theater, hard to tell if this helps at this stage, but figured better safe than sorry. it is relatively inexpensive to include during building, but would be very costly to try to add after the fact. so I consider this cheap insurance.

Chris Sears

Works ok for underpayment material for carpeting when not doing new construction.

Plasterform Inc

We are using this product as a substitute for another acoustical treatment. Seems to work well for our application.

Does what is advertised.

Matchless Construction Group I

Did what it was supposed to. We fit it into inset panel doors to reduce sound transmission from room to room. Good results.
