Product Description

Acoustical Solutions is a worldwide certified distributor of Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound, the most popular and cost-effective soundproofing material on the market. This viscoelastic damping compound dissipates vibrations caused by sound waves by converting them into heat as they travel through ceilings, walls, and floors making it ideal for new construction and renovation projects. When Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound is used between two layers of drywall or other rigid construction materials it forms a damping system to isolate sound and vibration, significantly reducing sound transfer between rooms.

Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound is environmentally responsible because it’s non-toxic and is low-VOC with practically no odor. It also adds value to your home or commercial space. It takes just a few minutes to apply Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound to an average piece of drywall (or other rigid construction material). It’s easy to soundproof a room in one day or less. For best results, cure time is seven days, and the compound reaches its peak performance 30 days after application.

Whether you’re an experienced construction professional or a handy DIY kind of person, using Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound is a cinch. All you need is a standard quart-sized calking gun to apply a layer of compound between two pieces of drywall or other construction material. It also cleans up easily with just soap and water. Independent lab tests prove that using Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound dissipates up to 90 percent of noise. Unlike other soundproofing products, Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound is ideal for dissipating low-frequency noise common with home entertainment and theater systems. Green Glue is non-toxic with no mixing required. For floors and walls, this product drastically reduces impact and airborne noise. It can be used in loudspeaker cabinets, home theaters, and recording studios.

Please note that Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound is a damping compound and is not to be used as a substitute for glue or mechanical fasteners. Green Glue should be utilized in conjunction with sound barriers, vibration isolators, and other construction materials to effectively construct soundproof assemblies.

Installation Method

We supply the following installation instructions as a general guide to avoid common errors:

  • Installer should follow best practices for construction and workmanship.
  • Acoustical Solutions bears no responsibility for installation or contractor selection.
  • Do not commence installation until the building is enclosed and under standard occupancy conditions.
  • Surfaces must also be in acceptable condition and you must prepare those surfaces properly.
  • Do not install materials of unacceptable quality.
  • You must use this product between two rigid layers; one layer must be porous; e.g. drywall, plywood, OSB.
  • Green Glue is not a sealant or adhesive, therefore fasteners are necessary.
  • Intended for interior use only.
  • Maintain a temperature of 60⁰F – 80⁰F within the building after installation.
  • Do not use this product in conjunction with a construction adhesive.
  • Product is intended to reduce sound transmission between rooms and does not affect noise within a room.
  • Store in a cool, dry location at room temperature. Compound is freeze/thaw stable but should be allowed to return to room temperature before application.

Using 28 oz. tubes:

  1. Cut the end of the tube of Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound.
  2. Screw on nozzle and cut end, leaving an opening of approximately 3/8”
  3. Apply compound using a standard (32-oz.) quart-size caulk gun. Apply Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound in a random pattern across the entire back of the second sheet of drywall as shown in our downloadable installation guide (see “Documents” section of this page), leaving a 2-3″ border free of compound around the edge to allow for handling.
  4. Raise the board into position, press against the wall or ceiling, and fasten into place using appropriate screws. It must be hung and fastened in place within 15 minutes to prevent the compound from curing before it is installed
  5. Follow all appropriate building codes regarding screw type and spacing.
  6. Use Green Glue Noiseproofing Sealant to seal cracks and seams.
  7. Allow Green Glue 30 days of drying time for optimal sound isolation performance. Allow Green Glue 7 to 10 days of drying time before sound isolation will start to improve. Drying times vary per application.
