Product Description

This drop-in ceiling tile is an acoustic showstopper. Alphasorb® Designer Premium Acoustic Felt Ceiling Tiles are decorative, sound-absorbing ceiling panels offering dimensional visual appeal. Our acoustically superior recycled PET felt works in tandem with our uniquely designed internal air cavities to provide excellent noise reduction. These felt ceiling tiles can be ordered in four different forms and four solid colors offering many design possibilities for standard 1″ grid systems.

Like our other premium felt products, these ceiling tiles are appealing to architects and designers because they are a modern, eco-friendly way to mitigate noise and reverberation with a one-of-a-kind design appeal. Our premium acoustic felt is 100% PET plastic from recycled bottles, is 100% recyclable, and is eligible for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) MRc4 credits. It’s a polyester material with a felt-like finish. The material is porous, fire-rated, environmentally responsible, long-lasting, and easy to maintain and hang — making it perfectly suited for acoustic treatments in both commercial and residential settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, AlphaSorb® Designer Premium Acoustic Felt Ceiling Tiles are 100% recyclable and made of 50% recycled materials.

CISCA studies show that compared to open plenum ceilings, suspended ceilings offer a 12.7–17% energy cost savings.

Polyethylene terephthalate, better known as PET felt, is a unique material. Strong and sturdy, it is better at controlling acoustics than ordinary drop ceiling panels.

PET felt looks and feels like wool, but this innovative acoustic felt is made of recycled water and soda bottles and can contain anywhere from 50% to 100% post-recycled content. It is formed into sheets that can be transformed into panels, tiles, light fixtures, and even furniture, all of which do a superior job of absorbing sound and controlling the acoustics in a room or building.

PET acoustic felt is highly durable plus easy to clean and maintain. It doesn’t contain organic material, so it won’t begin to degrade or crumble with time, and you can use it in a wide variety of settings without worrying about maintenance or care.

At the end of its lifespan, it is also fully recyclable, making it an excellent green choice for today’s eco-conscious companies.

These tiles received a Clean Air Gold Certification Report in November of 2022.

These tiles have been tested by independent laboratories and achieve the highest rating of Class A Fire and Smoke according to ASTM E84-21a test standards.

All tiles are 23 5/8″ x 23 5/8″ so that the tiles drop into new and existing grid systems. The depth of dimensional and recessed designs are between 1″ and 3-1/8″.

Standard or 1″ Tegular tiles are the best tiles to use where ceiling-mounted motion sensors are located to ensure unobstructed sensing.

Ceiling tiles in general are not designed to support weight. Objects in a suspended ceiling system should be independently supported.

Tiles are designed to drop into new and existing ceiling grid systems.

AlphaSorb® Designer Premium Acoustic Felt Ceiling Tiles are naturally mold and mildew resistant. Natural resistance to mold and mildew is the gold standard. Prolonged exposure to moisture will commonly cause mold and mildew on any material. Sources of moisture should be eliminated as soon as possible to prevent mold and mildew growth.

Our ceiling tiles typically do not meet building codes for food and beverage preparation areas. Most building codes require a smooth, wipeable surface above food preparation areas. Please check your local building codes.
