I’m one of a few of the most seasoned folks on the team here. So I remember when customers wanted to visually enhance their acoustic wall treatments and their options were really limited. I’d suggest wrapping sound absorbing panels with a solid-color fabric. With hundreds of fabrics to choose from, it’s a great way to compliment any space. Years later, our fabric-wrapped acoustic panels are still incredibly popular.
Back in 2015, we introduced a new approach with truly unlimited design potential – custom art acoustic panels. Sound absorbing wall art allows you to add stylish designs and photography to a space while discreetly addressing noise, echo, and reverberation.
What is Sound-Absorbing Wall Art?
Sound-absorbing wall art, also known as acoustic art panels, are decorative panels that absorb sound waves to reduce noise in a room. Unlike soundproofing materials that block sound from passing through a wall, acoustic art panels help to improve room sound quality by reducing unwanted echos that make it difficult to understand what others are saying. Because you provide the graphic design file that is printed on the fabric, you can create a truly unique piece to fit your interior décor.
Why Are Acoustic Art Panels Important?
Acoustic art panels are a vital addition to our acoustical solutions because they go beyond just sound absorption. Many home or business owners don’t want their soundproofing to be obvious or apparent. So, having an option that can be disguised as art is a game changer.
Our AlphaSorb® Art Acoustic Panels are a popular choice because they offer both aesthetic and acoustic benefits. The image wrapped around the acoustical absorbing material is completely customizable, so we can print whatever you want on the surface of your acoustic art panels.
If you don’t have any images of your own – don’t worry! There are entire libraries full of pictures you can purchase, including Shutterstock or Getty Images, or download for free from a site such as Pixabay.com to create a unique look that complements your home’s interior design.
How Are Acoustic Art Panels Made?
Our printing process is unique and involves a partnership with a printing company to quickly create printed panels with high-quality images. The process begins by printing donor paper with a special toner in reverse. The fabric and printed donor paper are then webbed onto the heat press, where they meet at very high heat and pressure.
The toner turns into a gas and sublimates into the fabric, dyeing the fabric with the specific pattern of colors required to create the image. The paper is then recycled as packaging material, and the fabric is used to wrap our sound-absorbing acoustic panels. The dyed fabric can also be washed, ironed, and steamed, which is a unique quality that makes it an incredibly durable and long-lasting acoustic solution.
What About Larger Areas?
For larger areas and projects, our AcoustiWall Stretch System is a site-installed acoustical wall system where the fabric can be printed with any image of your choice. The result is a seamless and professional-looking wall system that doubles as artwork. This system is perfect for home theaters, recording studios, conference rooms, and any other space where acoustics and design aesthetics are important.
What is the Acoustical Solutions Difference?
At Acoustical Solutions, we prioritize creating products that defy industry standards. Our acoustic art panels are superior in three distinct ways:
- We’ve introduced a self-service online ordering tool that simplifies the buying and design process of customizing and ordering art panels. Customers can easily upload custom images, choose panel dimensions and orientation, crop and adjust the image as needed, and complete the order using their credit card right from our website!
- It’s super important to remember that customers must upload images that meet the minimum pixel resolution standard to ensure optimum image quality. If there are any issues with image clarity, our customer service and graphic design teams will reach out to the customer before proceeding.
- We’ve transitioned to a new, state-of-the-art printer technology and fabric, which enables us to produce more vivid and vibrant colors. The printable fabric is a durable textile made for high-resolution printing and low sound transmission loss. Plus, the fabric has a flame retardant rating of NFPA 701 and is resistant to scratches and scuffing.
