Product Description
This product has been discontinued. please consider our Acousti-Mat® Perimeter Isolation Strip instead.
The Acousti-Top™ Perimeter Isolation Strip is used with Acousti-Top™ Floor Underlayment to prevent structural sound transmission from the flooring materials to the side walls. Made from a blend of polymeric fibers, the Acousti-Top™ Perimeter Isolation Strip is on a long roll for placement runs with limited cutting.
The Acousti-Top™ Perimeter Isolation Strip should be installed around all areas receiving the Acousti-Top™ Floor Underlayment and any protrusions. This procedure isolates the sound mat floor system from other materials. This isolation strip helps to minimize the transmission of sound laterally from the flooring to any other construction assembly.

Installation Method
Install Acousti-Top™ Perimeter Isolation Strip at the perimeter of all areas receiving Acousti-Top™ Floor Underlayment, including door frames and around any protrusions. This procedure isolates the sound mat floor system from the walls in order to create an acoustical break that will minimize the transmission of sound laterally from the “floating floor” to the walls. Cove the strip on the floor and wall. Staple the isolation strip to the floor and wall. The staples on the wall should be located above the pour or double-layer plywood height. The Acousti-Top™ Floor underlayment will cover the samples on the floor. Install the Acousti-Top™ Floor underlayment per installation instructions. Adhere the Acousti-Top™ Isolation Strip to seams along the perimeter using Acousti-Mat® Tape or similar.
The installation of Acousti-Top™ does not eliminate the need for expansion or movement joints, including perimeter joints. An expansion of 1/4″ must be maintained at all times. Use the perimeter isolation strips to assist in maintaining the expansion gap.
